2021 ANA/AE-FUNAI International Conference & Creativity Workshops

2021 ANA/AE-FUNAI INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE & CREATIVITY WORKSHOPS

THEME: RE-IMAGINING BELONGINESS IN 21ST CENTURY AFRICA

DATE: 1ST- 4TH OF JULY 2021

VENUE: RASHEED ABUBAKAR AUDITORIUM, ALEX EKWUEME FEDERAL UNIVERSITY NDUFU-ALIKE IKWO, EBONYI STATE

The 2021 ANA/AE-FUNAI Conference & Workshops investigate the various ways in which the literary imagination in Africa has captured and interrogated positive and negative ideas that are associated with the concept of “Belongingness” in 21st Century Africa. Although “Belongingness” is basically a subjective experience, which satisfies a basic social need, yet its importance is anchored on its identification as a core nexus for human survival.

Held within the idyllic surroundings of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ebonyi State, this conference provides an enabling environment for scholars to interrogate the diverse narratives that are associated with the different quests for “Belongingness” and how these are implicated  within conjectures of Africa’s social groupings such as indigene/non-indigene, netizens/citizens/migrants, gender constructions (male/female/transgender), sexualities (heterosexual, lesbian, gay, bi-sexual), rich/poor economic divides, languages, traditions, urbanities, families, academic institutions, the internet, corporate organizations, crime, subalterns, terrorism, religion, just to mention but a few. How have these quests or denials of “Belongingness” created unities or disruptions in our appreciation of our common humanity and societies in Africa and what are the implications?
